The Vítkovice Iron and Steelworks was the largest iron and steel works in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Initially by Olomouc Archbishop Archduke Rudolph Johann of Habsburg in 1828, was then purchased by Salomon Meyer von Rothschild 1873 and continuosly expanded by his family. The place and the tour, as already mentioned, is impressive, showing the entire process of iron smelting.
The area, now transformed into an educational and cultural centre, other than a festival ara, includes visits to the blast furnace interior, and you actually go up the skip hoist that was used by the raw material, albeit a modernised version for people. No much to say. The impressive place is a sight to behold, giving a wide view of the city of Ostrava and its surroundings from top of the bolt tower. Enjoy!

Now, it's time to leave Ostrava and head to Kutná Hora, where the Sedlec Ossuary is, the main reason of my trip.
