Kutná Hora

After a tasty lunch in a local bistro, I went back to the station and took my train to Kolín, where my connection to Kutná Hora was. Thanks to my friend Aneta's advice, I took a Leo Express train, a very good one. Free wi-fi, complimentary bottle of water, comfy seats. Also pretty staff, but I assume this was just a strike of luck. I did not particulary enjoy the trip itself, as I worked most of it. Freelance life.
Once I arrived in Kolín I discovered the train accumulated some extra delay, and I missed my connection. Not a big deal, another was in 45 minutes. I checked the area outside the station, found it grim, so I headed back inside and worked a bit more. With the free wi-fi of the station, OF COURSE.
The trip from Kolín to Kutná Hora is just 10 minutes, so I did not even bother to sit. Once arrived in Kutná Hora I took another train to the center and this is when the fun begun. We left the station, and two minutes after the train stopped. Some guy in a train uniform went through it and then we started heading back... But we did not arrive to the same station as before. We actually got to the right one and that was when I understood: because of the railway structure, you don't simply go to from a to b on the same track, but go past an exchange, activate it and take the turn. Well, that's a new thing :)

After this weird experience I went to my hotel, called U Kata ("the hunter"), which is very nice and very medieval...

Since it was evening already there was no point of going to the ossuary, so after a quick shower I decided take advantage of the nice sunset light to explore the town. Kutná Hora is a nice and typical central European medieval town. Built on a hill, it kinda reminded me of Sighișoara, in Romania. Narrow streets, pretty building, cobblestone and tall, pointy churches. Of special mentions are the Church of St. James and the cathedral of St. Barbara, a wonderfukl gothic construction.

Kostel sv. Jakuba (St. James church)

Barborská, the street leading to Chrám svaté Barbory, St. Barbarar's church

After dinner I went back to the hotel, in a much darker town, the kind that gets empty at night because the local Lord Vampire roams the streets. My plan was to get a bit of rest and try a local bar, famous for its cocktails, but I was tired, so I just decided to take the local bed. Tomorrow is ossuary day. Need to be fresh.
