Cooler my ass... Ostrava turned out to be quite hot, while not as bad as Milan. As soon as I arrived, with a pleasant flight and a quick train ride, I reached my hotel (no CouchSurfing this time, and apparently no hostels either...) and after a quick shower, ventured outside.
The town is a typical Czech town, with that pleasant and recognizable architecture. After a quick snack I decided to visit the Viktovice industrial complex, as the fading sun promised moody photos. To go there you take easily tram n. 2 (which, like any other public transportation element in Ostrava, can be simply paid with a contactless credit card. And yes, I am the esterophile...).
Once there, I started czeching for recommendations online, and I found an interesting one called U Skákavého poníka (The skittle pony). Its garlic soup description got me, so I checked on the map and... it's across the road. Really, this is as close as La Cappelletta from my apartment, so I went.
The garlic soup was really good, with eggs and goat cheese, and also the battered chicken I got after, all washed down by good beer. The bright point of the dinner, though, other than managing to stealth a group of Italians, was the music. Doom, atmospheric, all nicely provided by Mr. Waiter Dressed in Black. Had to compliment on his playlist at the end, and he was definitely pleased!
After dinner I went to find some place to spend the evening, but the fabled Stodolní, allegedly known around the Czech Republic as the "Street that Never Sleeps" was quite sleepy indeed. I found a place with decent music, but it didn't last. Crappy Top 40 in a matter of minutes. Finished my beer and went to sleep. Tomorrow I'll visit the industrial complex again, before departing for Kutná Hora.
